Lyrics

Perhaps its the wind blowing outside, or the cold air seeping into the apartment. I suddenly had a craving to hear some classic, Nat King Cole.

When I fall in love it will be forever
Or Ill never fall in love
In a restless world like this is
Love is ended before its begun
And too many moonlight kisses
Seem to cool in the warmth of the sun

When I give my heart it will be completely
Or Ill never give my heart
And the moment I can feel that you feel that way too
Is when I fall in love with you.

There’s a tinge of sadness with this song - he talks about only falling in love if that love is reciprocated. Whatever happened to “love like you’ve never been hurt before”?

I suppose he was one of the ones that was seriously hurt.

Wrangling fear is the biggest challenge the world faces now and the challenge we all face, now and again, at our crossroads, in the dark moments, at those times we are asked to compromise, at those times when we know deep down that we must revolutionize our own lives.

Happy Happy Joy Joy

Filed under: Quotes, Random — Shiz @ 10:37 am

One of my favorite quotes was by my old Chairman at UCLA -

“Do not postpone joy!”

In this case, I’m referring to this.

I’m getting antsy! Countdown - 7 months, 2 days until graduation…!

Sealed with a Kiss

From the June 2006 Instyle Magazine (yes, one of the most intellectual mags I currently receive)…

Quoted from Heiki Klum’s husband, Seal:

“If Heidi were a piece of music, she would be Gustav Holst’s ‘The Planets’
Because she is:
Powerful like Mars
Peaceful and loving as Venus
Knowledgeable like Mercury
Exciting and childlike as Jupiter
Wise and mature like Saturn
Magical and sexy like Uranus
And complex like Neptune

Good thing he left out Pluto since it is a planet no longer.

No, maybe even better (quote)

Filed under: Quotes — Shiz @ 7:07 pm

A girl asked a guy if he thought she was pretty.
He said…no.

She asked him if he would want to be with her forever….
and he said no.

She then asked him if she were to leave would he cry,
and once again he replied with a no.

She had heard enough.
As she walked away, tears were streaming down her face.

The boy grabbed her arm and said….
You’re not pretty you’re beautiful.

I don’t want to be with you forever.
I NEED to be with you forever!

And I wouldn’t cry if you walked away…
I’d die…

“A hundred objective measures didn’t sum up the worth of a garden; only the delight of its users made it mean something.”

just do it!

I’ve been in Weight Watchers now for almost two and a half years. I’ve been in the same 7 lb weight range for the last almost two years. I’ve seen women lose 165 lbs in the amount of time I’ve sat and watched my weight go up a little, down a little. Although it seems like I’ve failed in continuing to lose weight, its taught me a few things about myself, and about life in general. Judy, my wonderful leader (old enough to be my mother, but dresses like a Nordstrom Ad) brought in a quote she saw on the gym wall in the movie, Million Dollar Baby -

“Winners do, what losers don’t do”.

Kinda harsh, lotsa reality.

I’ve heard many people my age put things off “oh, I’ll travel when I get married” (and they’re single with no prospects), “I’ll wear my new outfit when I lose 10 lbs” (and they aren’t even dieting), “it’s okay, I’ll make the appointment next week” (and they’ve said this for the 6 months) - we’ve all heard the excuses. In fact, I’ve made a few myself. But the quote still holds reality. The difference between me and the 165 lb losing woman is that she simply does what I don’t. The difference between me now and me what I want to be? Just simply doing. So shut up, and just do it.

Notable Quotables

When T and I started dating, he used to hide cute cards all around my apartment. In my textbooks, in a key holder box, under my keyboard, in the rice cooker. It was during a time of great turmoil in every aspect of my life - personally, professionally and spiritually to an extent. I look back at some of the darkest hours to realize that this is what life is all about; the highs and the lows and the learning experience that goes along with both. The cards T gave me during that time were of quotes, famous and not so famous, with his own inspirational words and wisdoms written on the inside. Here is one in particular he surprised me with that was representative of that time, but with such humor I remember endlessly giggling -

just when the
caterpillar
thought the
world was over,
it became a butterfly

I frequently come across quotes which inspire, humor and ponder, and I’ve created this new category to be able to share them with you.
