i can read your mind…
My accounting class was held in the computer lab today (Yes, I can see the Pacific Ocean even from the computer lab - you should see the view from the Library!) for us to learn how to use the computerized accounting software. I’m always amazed by people my age who have little or no computer experience. The software came with some data on floppies and since most of us no longer have floppy drives on our laptops, we had to transfer them to our USB drives (my crazy, old, hilarious Prof calls them “magic sticks”). We had 40 minutes of class time and assistance from 2 IT guys to help everyone: 1) install the software onto their laptops and 2) copy the data from the floppy to the usb drives.
Now how difficult can this be with only 20 people in the class (19 since I knew what I was doing)…
Very difficult.
I was having one of those Dilbert cartoon bubble moments when I could see and know what was going on inside the 2 IT guy’s brain. “freakin MBA students” “these are the future business leaders?” “b-school students are the biggest dumbasses” “how can you not understand ‘press all positive responses’” “no… copy… go to Edit… Copy”
For once, I wasn’t the one having to deal with beginning of the quarter madness ![]()
