shreds of the past
Every few years or so, I’ll have the time and the courage to go through my “keep pile” (comprised of receipts, letters, other random non-trash) which has accumulated over the last few years. I go through the pile and filter it down to a “keep indefinitely” pile for one reason or another, something quite difficult for a hoarder like myself. Shredding is quite therapeutic in a sense, a “delete” button for physical memories that have been long forgotten in our current state of mind. It reminds us of the good times, when life at one point seemed much simpler but it also keeps us humble, as we remember the events of the past and how it has changed our lives forever. Refresh and renew, just as the current rains of SoCal have brought to the area.

Funny that you mention the shredding — I just bought a new paper shredder (upgraded to the “criss cross” one — I’m *so* high tech now) — my kids and I spent a good portion of our (rainy) morning yesterday shredding away.
When will this rain stop?! (I’m a wimp, I know!)
