I played poker for the first time a few nights ago. It was fascinating. I have absolutely no love lost on gambling - some people are terribly addicted, I on the other hand don’t care for certain things - gambling, playing team sports, card games. However, once I get into it, oh damn I go head first.

Gambling makes a great analogy to life, even as the famous saying goes, “life is all a gamble”, although I would like to think that life is not as random as the shuffling of a deck of cards. Like gambling, there are some moves and decisions made that are better than others, and perhaps intuition which comes in that territory. However, is our goal in these types of games the same as in life - i.e. “winner takes all”, the person with the most money wins? Or, are we trying to find our pairs, our equals amongst many others that are so similar but not a match?
